Customer Profile: Network Operation System for FOMA 3G Mobile Phone Service

"We probably could have delivered this level of real-time visibility and achieved these results without Enterprise RTView, but it would have been extremely expensive and difficult both to deliver and to extend. Enterprise RTView is what made this particular BAM solution possible."

NTT DoCoMo, Inc. is Japan's largest mobile communications operator, with over 47 million subscribers. SL-GMS is used for one of the company's new network operation systems, DoCoMo's 3rd Generation (3G) Mobile Communications System (IMT-2000) service called "FOMA (Freedom of mobile Multimedia Access)" which began in 2001.

(FOMA is a trademark of NTT DoCoMo, Inc.) FOMA's new network operation system, which monitors communication equipment and traffic, utilizes SL-GMS products to help manage maps and node connections, as well as to develop various operation displays. These displays include access network representations, base stations, and switches on maps that range from high-level country-wide views to detailed area maps.

As the GUI of the new mobile communications network management system developed to enhance service with more efficient and fast network control, SL-GMS is running at DoCoMo's Japan-wide operation centers.

Note: SL-GMS J/Net is an extension to J/Developer, and C++/Net is an extension to C++/Developer
