ITEC Hanshin Selects SL Corporations Real-Time Java GUI for Web based Building Facility Management System OCTBAS-i

Tokyo, Japan – August 28, 2007– SL Japan Corporation, a subsidiary of SL Corporation, a leading provider of real-time monitoring and visualization solutions, today announced that ITEC Hanshin Co., Ltd. (ITEC Hanshin), a leading system integrator in Japan, has selected SL-GMS J/Developer and SL-GMS Custom Editor to embed in their new Web-based building facility management system.

ITEC Hanshin has designed and developed a number of building management systems to monitor and control various building & station facilities – including elevators, escalators and burglar equipments – using advanced open technologies. “OCTBAS-i (Open Control Technology / Building Automation System) is ITEC Hanshin’s Integrated Building Management System incorporating their extensive expertise and experiences. OCTBAS-i monitors and controls systems such as electric power and air conditioning using Web displays, and remotely monitors and sends e-mail messages to relevant parties upon equipment failures and emergencies. This solution marks an important evolution from a traditional building management system for managers to an open facility equipment monitoring system.

“BA (Building Automation) System is the core of OCTBAS-i. It is based on a central monitoring system using Echelon’s LonWorks intelligent distributed control networking technology – the industry standard for building systems in the United States – and independent distributed controllers developed by ITEC Hanshin. BA System collects monitoring and control data for facility operations, failures and alarms, and cooperates with the other OCTBAS-i composing systems – Energy Management, LCD Lighting and Air Conditioning Control, and Billing systems. The new Web-based graphic monitoring displays are built with SL-GMS J/Developer with unprecedented compactness and performance. SL-GMS J/Developer is a proven development tool to easily build content-rich and thin-client real-time dynamic Java graphical user interfaces, used by many monitoring and control systems worldwide.

The facility management system consists of various Web displays including displays for Schedule Setting, Trend History for Measurements, Electric Power Supply Equipment Control, Alarm Monitoring and Remote Operation. These displays are driven by real-time data collected by the central monitoring system, and displayed in high-performance dashboards by SL-GMS J/Developer. Using SL-GMSDraw editor in J/Developer, graphic objects for these displays can be created interactively with various dynamic properties, and then their behaviors can be previewed immediately, enabling the rapid development of various and sophisticated monitoring & control displays. Additionally, they have developed an authoring environment specifically for the facility management system using SL-GMS Custom Editor, making it possible to easily modify the monitoring displays without programming in the field, and thus minimizing maintenance cost. With SL-GMS Custom Editor, an application-specific builder can be created with dedicated object pallets and data connections, reducing development time for a custom editor from man-years to man-months.
