Why: Oracle Coherence provides the ability to manage and monitor custom MBeans (i.e. application-level MBeans) within its JMX Management and Monitoring framework. However, configuring these custom MBeans can quickly become a landmine leading to huge overhead and poor performance.
Oracle Coherence expert, Everett Williams, will outline the “secret handshake” of custom MBean configuration. With a few simple yet not-so-obvious rules, Everett will share how to configure both standard and dynamic MBeans to bring in more specific data in order to lower overhead, how to leverage query MBeans to re-use any MBean that already exists, and how to construct notifications across all three MBean types. Detailed examples and sample code will be provided.
