SL Corporation’s RTView Said to Be “Close in Scope and Capabilities” to Leading Independent Research Firm’s Application Performance Management Reference Model
Company Also Categorized as a Vendor Providing the Next Step In the Evolution of APMPress Releases, RTView, SL in the News
Corte Madera, CA October 4, 2010 SL Corporation, a leading provider of application performance management and component-level infrastructure monitoring software, today announced that its RTView for APM product has been positioned by Forrester Research, Inc. as “close in scope and capabilities to the Forrester Application Performance Management (APM) reference model” in its independent September 2010 report titled, “Competitive Analysis: Application Performance Management and Business Transaction Monitoring.” The report further categorizes SL Corporation as one of the vendors providing the next step in Application Performance Management, where APM, BTM, BPM and CEP converge.
According to the report, “Applications will become increasingly complex. The difficulty of determining the root cause of performance issues in transactional applications spanning a large number of moving parts emphasizes the need to aggregate data into a tool that can provide teams with a pre-analysis and a single view…” The report continues, “RTView supports the monitoring of custom J2EE and .NET applications and offers extensive support of monitoring complex distributed applications that use messaging middleware or ESBs… Performance metrics can be collected not only from instrumented middleware like BPM suites, application servers, and database servers, but also from other monitoring tools that expose their performance metrics in standard ways.”
“We find the Forrester reference model for APM to be the most comprehensive and consistent with the realities our customers experience in deploying large-scale APM solutions,” said Tom Lubinski, president and CEO of SL Corporation. “We are honored that Forrester has included SL and RTView in such a prestigious sub-group of APM vendors.”
RTView for APM is a platform that provides both breadth and depth in the monitoring and management of complex, multi-tier and geographically disperse software systems. RTView makes it easy to gather, correlate, analyze and present performance data from a wide array of applications and components. This enables users to quickly and cost-effectively deliver custom dashboards, reliable alerts, power troubleshooting and historical analysis of system behavior.
The report goes on to state that the “RTView Historian allows for persistence of performance metrics via relational databases. The historical data is used for predictive analysis of trends in component and application behavior; historical data provides the ability to create trusted alerts triggered not against fixed thresholds, but against dynamically calculated baselines that take into account typical loads during different periods of the workday.”
RTView for APM is particularly well-suited for applications based on middleware and in-memory data grids, as well as custom applications. RTView incorporates pre-built, out-of-the-box solutions for several common and critical mid-tier applications that otherwise have limited monitoring options. These solutions are driven by a powerful APM framework that enables users to more easily build custom monitoring applications, as well as quickly extend RTView’s pre-built packages.
