ATLANTA (SUPERCOMM 2000) GA – June 6, 2000 – SL Corporation, a provider of software and service solutions for the development of real-time graphical end user interfaces, today announced that the company has entered a new phase of its ongoing partnership with Harris Corporation. According to the agreement, Harris, a leading provider of network management solutions for large, complex communication networks, will utilize SL Corporation’s SL-GMS J/Developer for the creation of a Javabased, real-time graphical interface for the NetBoss™ platform. NetBoss is a comprehensive set of hardware and software tools that allow network managers to detect, evaluate and respond to changing network conditions.

“We are very pleased that Harris has decided to partner with us once again to migrate their current NetBoss real-time graphics interface to the Java platform,” says Ted Wilson, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, SL Corporation. “SL Corporation is providing all the essential tools that Harris needs to migrate from a X-windows environment to a distributed, Java-based system in SL-GMS J/Developer, a product developed specifically for the Java platform to provide maximum performance for dynamic graphic applications.”

SL-GMS J/Developer is part of the recently segmented SL-GMS product line. The SL-GMS line of unified solutions are segmented into a variety of offerings to address vertical industry applications and utilize the latest component-based technology languages and operating environments. SL-GMS J/Developer, specifically designed for the Java platform, includes the SL-GMSDraw Dynamic Graphic Editor and the SL-GMSRun-Time Library for Java, featuring a Code Generator for Java as well as frameworks for applications and applets and tools for model conversion. SL-GMS J/Developer enables VARs, OEMs and integrators to quickly prototype and deploy Java applications and applets that require high-performance dynamic graphics. SL-GMS J/Developer also assists the developer with easy portability and a migration path from C++ Developer and AX/Developer, two separate solutions in the SL-GMS product suite.

According to Ashley Fleeman, product manager at Harris’ Communications Products Division (CPD), the partnership with SL Corporation has simplified the process of migrating NetBoss graphics to an entirely different platform. “SL Corporation has been very quick in responding to our needs which has helped immensely during the implementation of this complex project,” he explains.

“By utilizing SL Corporation’s flexible SL-GMS J/Developer solution, Harris will be able to provide a robust, Java-based version of NetBoss that takes advantage of the benefits of cross-platform independence and web support. End-users will be able to access NetBoss graphics from anywhere and from any standard browser. This will open up a whole new era of network management in which end-users can remotely monitor and control large heterogeneous networks.”
