Tokyo – December 17, 2001 – SL Japan Corporation, subsidiary of SL Corporation and provider of software and service solutions for the development of real-time graphical and user interfaces, today announced that Toshiba Corporation has chosen the company’s SL-GMS (Graphical Modeling System) for Toshiba’s new SCADA product called “OIS-DS/SMART”. OIS-DS/SMART is a new entry product to Toshiba’s widely installed TOSDIC-CIE DS line, and SL-GMS is now used for all  the products of the line, providing scalability from small to very large systems.

TOSDIC-CIE DS is based on its “Open Rightsizing” concept, enabling easy and close cooperation with upper information systems such as production management, and is an integrated plant system that makes production efficient. Its OIS (Operator Interface Station)-DS ensures an advanced operation environment with extensive monitoring and control functions, and uses SL-GMS C++/Developer and SL-GMS AX/Developer. The OIS-DS’s “Graphic Editor” for preparing process displays is based on SL-GMS Custom Editor and customized for TOSDIC-CIE DS. OIS-DS utilizes various dynamic properties and powerful real-time graphic engine of SL-GMS to provide rich operation features in high performance and with easy maintenance and extensibility.

OIS-DS/SMART which Toshiba has newly released is an operator station with SCADA functionality that extends scalability of TOSDIC-CIE DS product line in response to the market needs. OIS-DS/SMART enables HMI for advanced DCS on small systems, with tag based monitoring, displays for various tag instruments, detail alarm set-ups and advanced log displays, the operational features that are inherited from the existing upper products of TOSDIC-CIE DS line. With the same single  architecture, OIS-DS/SMART can be easily enhanced to the larger systems of TOSDIC-CIE DS product line.

“Toshiba has been using SL-GMS for TOSDIC-CIE DS product line which has made our HMI development rapid and flexible for its operator station, and thus quickly responding to the market needs, “ said Akira Ohba, Chief Specialist, Control & Measurement Systems Division, Social Infrastructure Systems Company of Toshiba Corporation. “We could leverage the conventional development investment for OIS-DS/SMART to strengthen TOSDIC-CIE DS product line. “

“SL also provides a customization tool that enables DCS/SCADA makers to easily create their own editing environment with low cost, “ said Yoshie Hashima, President and Representative Director of SL Japan Corporation. “We are honored to be a contributor to Toshiba’s addition of the new SCADA product to their leading market TOSDIC-CIE DS product line.”
