SL Builds On Its Long Term Commitment for Advanced Control Systems
Corte Madera, CA – February 28, 2020 – SL, a leader in advanced, real-time data visualization and monitoring, has announced the new release of V5.2a SL-GMS Developer for .NET and its Custom Editor for .NET option. The release continues SL’s long-term commitment to supporting most of the world’s most mission-critical Advanced Control Systems. V5.2a major enhancements include new interactive graphs added to the existing dynamic graphs and a new API to save the executed running SL-GMS models.
SL-GMS product line for C/C++, Java and Microsoft .NET is SL’s long-selling tool since 1983, to rapidly develop and deploy or provide (embed) content-rich yet compact and high-performance dynamic GUI/HMIs and Custom Editors for Advanced Control Systems. SL-GMS Developer for .NET is specifically for developing real-time applications using Microsoft Visual Studio in the .NET Framework.
Since 1983 (over 35 years), SL-GMS has evolved from UNIX to Windows and Linux, from 32-bit to 64-bit native, and from C++ to ActiveX, Java, and Microsoft .NET, providing the highest value for long-lifecycle Advanced Control Systems. The dynamic graphics models, created with SL-GMSDraw, are upwardly compatible and reusable between different platforms and frameworks.
The powerful SL-GMSDraw editor not only reduces the expensive development and maintenance costs for sophisticated dynamic GUIs, but a Custom Editor based on SL-GMSDraw can easily be built specific to an Advanced Control System, further reducing the system TCO. The Custom Editor technology provided by SL is the only custom editor in the market. Moreover, the same desktop SL-GMS application can be deployed transparently in Remote or Web servers, as smoothly and fast as the local deployment and also from mobiles, by highly interactive yet unprecedentedly compact SL-GMS.
SL-GMS and its Custom Editor option have been embedded and provided in over ten thousand mission-critical systems in control rooms and centers globally for process control, facility and network monitoring, traffic control, and aerospace/defense.
Enhancements to the new V5.2a SL-GMS Developer for .NET and its Custom Editor for .NET option, supporting the latest Windows 10, Windows Server 2019 and Visual Studio 2019, include:
- Graph Enhancements: a new bar graph feature allows the user to interactively change the threshold of the warning and alarm section. A user can grab one of the triangular pointers and move them up and down. A new feature for trend graphs allows the user to click anywhere on a chart, which results in a horizontal bar and multiple value boxes. Each one shows the value of the intersection between the trace line and the horizontal bar. And a step graph has been added to SL-GMS, as well.
- SL-GMSDraw Enhancements: an option to select “Modern Look” for Windows Controls, and a menu to change the current working directory.
- Other Enhancements: the addition of a Default Color Definition sample for easier custom color definitions, and a new API to save the executed and running SL-GMS models.
